Pack presence
See who's online right now and how to use 'thinking of you' pings without creating noise.
Pack presence is a lightweight "who's around right now" feature — a gentle signal of availability without the pressure of a status system.
What presence shows
On your dashboard home screen, you'll see a small presence strip showing which packmates are currently active in BetterUs (opened the app or platform in the last 15 minutes).
What it doesn't show
Whether someone is actually available, what page they're on, or whether they're on desktop or mobile. It's softer than a status indicator — more like knowing the lights are on in someone's office.
Thinking of you pings
From the presence strip, you can send a packmate a "thinking of you" ping — a single tap that sends a small notification. There's no message, no expectation of response. It's a lightweight "hi." Sounds small. Lands warm.
Turning off presence
If the presence feature creates pressure to always be seen as "active," you can opt out in /dashboard/privacy. Your name simply won't appear in the strip for others.
Top tips
Make the most of this feature
- 1
Use thinking-of-you pings for packmates you know are going through something — it takes one tap and it's remembered.
- 2
Don't read into absence from the presence strip — people just might not have opened the platform today.
- 3
Turn off presence if you find it creates an 'always on' feeling — it's there to connect, not surveil.
