Setting up your custom check-in questions

Add up to three questions to every daily check-in — tailored to your culture, goals, or current priorities.

Custom check-in questions let you add up to three questions to your pack's daily check-in flow, sitting directly after the five core Wolf Logic pillars. Every active member answers them every day — giving you a rich, daily time-series on whatever matters most to your workplace right now.

Getting to the builder

Go to /admin/custom-questions (or from Insights, tap "Manage questions" in the Your Questions tab). You'll see three slots: Slot 1, 2, and 3. Each slot holds one active question.

Creating a question

  1. 1Tap an empty slot (or the Edit shortcut on an existing question).
  2. 2Write your question text. Be direct — "How aligned do you feel with our vision today?" works better than "Please rate your degree of strategic alignment."
  3. 3Choose a response format:

- 1–5 scale — Same as the core pillars. Best for most questions. - 1–10 scale — More granularity. Good for workload or confidence questions. - Yes / No — Fastest to answer. Good for binary culture checks ("Did you receive useful feedback today?").

  1. 1Optionally set anchor labels (e.g. "Scattered" to "Deep focus" for a focus question).
  2. 2Set the spark value per response. Default is 5 sparks — reward the habit.
  3. 3Hit Save. The question goes live in the next check-in cycle.

The template library

Not sure where to start? Tap "Get inspired" to open the template drawer. It has 16 pre-written questions across six themes: Vision & Values, Productivity, Leadership, Wellbeing, Innovation, and Customer Focus. Each template includes a hint on what it pairs well with in the pillar data.

Editing a question

Tap Edit on any active question card. If you change the question text, the old version is automatically archived (so historical analytics stay accurate) and a new question is created in its place. If you only change the format, labels, or spark value, it updates in place.

Deactivating a question

Tap Edit → Deactivate. The slot becomes empty and can be refilled immediately. Historical response data is preserved in analytics — it just stops appearing in the check-in from the next day.

Slot order

Questions appear in the check-in in slot order: 1, then 2, then 3. Use the slot number to control the sequence — put your most important question in Slot 1.

A few things to know

  • Only active questions appear in the check-in. Deactivated questions are archived, not deleted.
  • One active question per slot at a time. Adding a new question to an occupied slot archives the old one first.
  • If two admins try to fill the same slot at exactly the same moment, the second save returns a conflict notice — refresh and try again.

    Keep question text under 15 words. Members see it on a small screen mid-check-in — brevity wins.

    Pair your custom question with a related Wolf Logic pillar to find correlations in the analytics overlay.

    Swap questions seasonally — values alignment in Q1 planning, workload in Q3 peak, wellbeing during busy periods.
