How to connect Slack
30 seconds. One Incoming Webhook URL. Your channel starts seeing recognitions, Wolf Mode, and pulses.
Slack support uses Incoming Webhooks — the simplest path. No OAuth, no token storage on our side, no app to install beyond the webhook itself.
The 30-second setup
- 1In Slack, go to Apps → search "Incoming Webhooks" → Add to Slack.
- 2Choose the channel you want BetterUs to post to.
- 3Copy the webhook URL (starts with
https://hooks.slack.com/services/...). - 4In BetterUs, go to /admin/integrations/slack and paste the URL.
- 5We auto-fire a test message so you know it's connected.
What gets posted
- Recognitions (default on) — Every recognition the pack sends
- Wolf Mode changes (default on) — When you set the weekly pillar
- Pulses (default off, opt-in) — When you fire a pulse
Privacy
Webhook URLs include a secret slug — treat them like passwords. We store them encrypted and never log them. Disconnecting wipes the URL immediately.
Top tips
Make the most of this feature
- 1
Post recognitions to a #shoutouts channel, not #general — keeps the signal clean and the kudos visible.
- 2
Turn on Wolf Mode notifications — it's the best way to make the weekly pillar feel real to the whole team.
- 3
Test the webhook right after connecting — don't assume it's working until you've seen a message appear.
